What is Lean Thinking and What is Just-in-Time Manufacturing?

Lean is a business philosophy, aiming to give new meaning to the organization of companies in order to achieve maximum value for the customer while eliminating internal "waste" in the processes.

Often associated with logistics, the term "just in time" it defacto is one of the pillars of the Toyota Production System. It brings together traditional methods of organization together with new original techniques (Kanban, cell production, load leveling, value stream map etc). Through them, Just in Time helps to link the factors of production in a way that leads to high labor productivity, small volume of work in progress, short cycle from order to finished product.
